Open House: At the beginning of the school year, parents and students are invited to school to meet teachers, visit classrooms and learn about what to expect in the coming school year.
Fall Festival: The parish gathers together to enjoy a chicken dinner, entertainment, BINGO, a country store, kids games, live music and a raffle.
Marathon/ Bonfire: The evening after our annual Marathon fundraising event, families are invited to come to school and enjoy the fun activities, including a bonfire.
Thanksgiving Meal: Students and staff are served a family style meal.
Advent Program: The Sixth Grade class prepares a play, and all of the students work on music to share the Christmas story in an afternoon and evening performance.
Caroling: To celebrate the Christmas season, students travel to various living communities in Hutchinson to sing Christmas carols.
Catholic School’s Week: A week-long event filled with fun activities to celebrate our Catholic School.
Open House – January 28th, 2018 – 11:30-1:00pm
Fat Tuesday: Families gather to celebrate Fat Tuesday (the day before Ash Wednesday) with a meal and fun activities.
First Reconciliation : Second Graders receive their Firth Reconciliation on a Sunday during Lent.
Tubing: Home and School sponsors an evening of tubing at Powder Ridge for families to get to know each other.
First Communion: Second Graders receive their first Eucharist during Mass on a Sunday after Easter.
Grandparents and Special Friends’ Day: Students invite their grandparents or special friends to school for an afternoon of music and fun.
Kid Print (fingerprints): Kindergartners, Sixth Graders and students new to St. Anastasia Catholic School are fingerprinted in this event sponsored by the Hutchinson Police Department.
Easter Meal: Students and staff are served a family style meal.
Camp Foley: Each May, the Sixth Grade class travels to Camp Foley, an environmental camp in Pine River, for a week-long stay.
Track and Field: Grades Kindergarten through Sixth participate in the Christian Track and Field Day at the Hutchinson High School.
Graduation: At the end of the school year, we wish our Sixth grade graduates well with a special graduation Mass and brunch.
Band: Students in Fifth and Sixth Grade may choose to join band. These students will travel to the public school for lessons on their chosen instrument and participate in all large-group band activities including concerts.
Basketball: Students in Kindergarten through Sixth Grade can participate in the school basketball program. Our Saints Basketball program for the Kindergarten, First and Second Graders is run in-house and teaches the fundamentals of basketball incorporating fun games. We have travel teams for Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Grade boys and girls which compete in the Waconia League and several tournaments each season. St. Anastasia Catholic School has hosted its own tournament for over 15 years. More information is available on the Saints Basketball website >>
Lectors: Students in Fifth and Sixth Grade may be lectors during School Mass. Lectors are able to read the first and second readings during our School Masses.
Mass Choir: Students in Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Grade can participate in the Mass Choir. The Choir will lead the singing and actions during the School Mass. They stand up front in the choir area during Mass. These students also play instruments during many songs.
Servers: Students in Sixth Grade can choose to be servers during School Mass. These students are trained-in on the jobs that servers do at Mass. Many of the students also serve during weekend Masses.
Student Forum: Students in Sixth Grade can choose to be in Student Forum. Student Forum meets with the principal periodically and helps advise the principal on changes they would like to see in the school. The school store (open during select lunch periods) is a favorite project of the Student Forum.
Youth Choir: On the second Sunday of each month, all students are invited to join in the Youth Choir at the 10:30 Mass at St. Anastasia Catholic Church.
The Home and School Association serves as a bridge for positive interaction between parents and school staff as it supports the school and its programs. The Association includes parents, our Principal, and a school staff member. We conduct fund raisers that are used to help purchase classroom materials, equipment, and Home & School sponsored activities.
